Not Another Stimulus Bill!

It seems like a bad Horror story, surpassed only by the Amnesty attempts.  The Stimulus is back, and iwth more Pork then ever. This despite the fact that the government has spent, at most, EIGHT PERCENT of the previous alotment.  8%.  What happened to the “THE WORLD IS BURNING AND THE STIMULUS IS THE SOLUTION!” running-around-like-a-chicken-with-its-head-cut-off Chicken Little act the government was putting on not even a year ago?  Seriously, what happened to it?  And why where the first jobs (and about 70% of the spent funds) used to grow government?

Washington’s Reputation is burning to the ground, and Obama is calling out the tune for the Pyromaniacs to dance too.

As Gateway Pundit has shown, Obama’s approval index is at -5! And Consumer Confidence is down to -52! And the government wants ANOTHER stimulus bill!? (And they WONDER why we feel disenfranchised…)

Whatever happened to the Free Market?  America is the modern Atlas, and the foundation upon which he stands is Capitalism.  His dias is built upon gold and silver.  And yet they seek to tear that pillar down, and send the Earth crashign down.

The only good thing about the Stimulus is that it convinced Conservatives that our, “Don’t F****** Tread On Me!” ideal doesn’t work in a world that seeks to brand us as racists and members of the National Socialist German Worker’s Party. (Seriously, Socialist and Worker in one party name, how did the people of Germany NOT see this one comming?  He broadcast it for God’s sake!)  We are being forced to put away the Rhetorical rapiers and take up Rhetorical XM307’s.  (Hey, Pentagon, thank you for eliminating that Weapon’s system by the way.  It’s not like it was the best Platoon Level Support Weapon’s System in development or anything.  Oh wait…)  And it is about time too.  We are dealing with people so wrapped up in fantasy, that reality doesn’t reach them, and Rapiers will bounce off of them.

But, enough with my gripes towards the Pentagon.

Onwards with the Stimulus debate.

Michelle Malkin quoted a great memo from the GOP dealing with the failures of Porkulus.

Included among the abuses of funds are

  1. Spending to preserve current jobs, without attempts to create new jobs
  2. Transportation and Education Bureaucrats spending the money on themselves
  3. The creation of a “Job” for the sole purpose of filling out Grants for other Stimulus Jobs
  4. The creation of support jobs for the above
  5. Spending money on Propaganda Signs to promote the Stimulus

Ain’t it a great system?

At least this is hurting Obama’s chances of re-election, and pointing towards a Conservative Revolution in the House and Senate.

The Heritage Foundation has a great article on the Subject.

Cap and Trade: Cyanide for the Economy

Well, on Friday, Cap and Trade passed through the Hosue of Represenatives with the help of Eight Traitor Republicans.  Shame on you for voting to place the chains of tyranny on my generation, and the one behind me.

Before I discuss the chains that HR 2454 places upon us, I would like to mention one good thing.  It puts funds into research and production of Algae Based Bio-Diesel.  This is the only truly sustainable and non-intrusive idea in the bill.  If we were to convert acreage of United States farmland, we would need at most 1-2% of total acreage to grow enough Algae to fuel the country’s transportation systems.  And, unlike Switchgrass (which would require approximately 75% of current acreage) and Corn (Subsidised in the Cap and Trade Bill, and requiring 109% of current acreage) Algae based bio-fuels can be grown in skyscrapers, in deserts, in space, or even on the moon, thus not requiring a reduction in the global food supply that Ethanol Corn would create.  On top of that, a gallon of Algae Bio-Fuel is 103% more efficient then a comparable quantity of Diesel.

However, as noted above, HR 2454 puts a large quantity of funding into Ethanol Corn Subsidies, a worthless and, quite frankly stupid, enterprise that will have large negative effects across the planet.

The United States is one of the world’s breadbaskets, along with the Nile Floodplain and Delta, and the Chinese River Country.  If we continue to follow this reckless path, then the price of Ethanol Corn will go up, at a rate where other farmers in other nations will abandon Wheat, Rice, and Soy for Ethanol Corn, reducing the Global Food Supply.  This will increase starvation across the globe, and result in massive civil unrest, to the point of creating a Fracture War.

And, as grain is a major American export, this will further the trade imbalance, and result in a nation that continues to grow weaker, as we have to import grain from outside the country, from nations such as Egypt and China, giving China further control over the United States, as they can then threaten to cut off food shipments if we do not do as they say.

And this isn’t even going into the effects this will have on Employment, GDP, Energy Costs, Goverment Control, or Government Intrusiveness.  Those are for later posts…

Straw Poll and Cap and Trade Protest (UPDATED)

I had a busy day out being political today.  Today was the date of the Johnson County Strawpoll.  So, I donned my FairTax T-Shirt and Hat, and headed on out.  Little did I know, as it was my first time at a Strawpoll, it costs money to vote in these things.  Annoying, but something I will remember for next time I got to one.

I wound up hooking up with the FairTax people out at the Straw Poll, and introduced a number of people to the FairTax.  I also had to pass over more then I talked with, as it seemed like so many there already supported the idea.  Always a good thing to hear.

While at the FairTax booth, I met up with Jeff Locke, the 2nd Congressional District Coordinator for the FairTax.  He is planning on running for the State Legislature for South East Kansas, and I encourage my readers to support his bid.  I will do a longer post on him come Friday as the first of my Freedom Friday Posts on the FairTax.

The guys from Campaign for Liberty and the Hope for America Coalition where at the Strawpoll, collecting signatures on a petition to support HR 1207 The Federal Reserve Transparency Act, as brought before the House by Representative Ron Paul (R-TX 14).

Despite the support for the petition, he did not do as well in the Strawpoll, with Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin gaining a large number of votes, and Bobby Jindal coming in with a lower number.  As a Jindal 2012 supporter, that does not make me very happy, but Huckabee does support the FairTax, so I need to balance it out.  Plus, Huckabee has support from Chuck Norris, and I fear Chuck.

Kris Kobach, a local Constitutional Scholar, did very well in the Strawpoll, and looks to have a large support in the upcoming race for the new Secretary of State.

The largest winner though, might have been Darla Jaye, the host of 980 at LIVE with Darla Jaye on News Radio 980 KMBZ.  Everyone at the Strawpoll walked around with a Draft Darla sticker somewhere, and they did not bring enough.

Kansas Meadowlark was out there, camera in hand, documenting the events, and will hopefully have more information about the event on his website, as I had forgotten to bring a pad of paper and a pen with me.

Amanda Grosserode with the Kansas City Tea Party was out there networking, and spreading word about the protest at the Johnson County Court House afterwords.

The protest against HR 2454 America Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 was modestly sized, not bad for a protest with only 24 hours notice.  Kansas Meadowlark had someplace else to be, but Nice Deb stuck around to document the protest.  I am in the pictures somewhere, but I won’t be saying who.

There where some great signs at the protest, including one which read “Enjoy Your A/C While You Still Can.”  All of them can be seen on Nice Deb’s site.

We had a number of honks, but we also had more hecklers then normal, and that was rather interesting.  I kinda like having hecklers, as it means that people are at least looking at what we are saying.

Update: Kansas Meadowlark has the results, and a great video of Darla Jaye’s speech.  I encourage all of you to go and read the post.
